New York – Birla Century and the Aditya Birla Science and Research Centre have created a patented technology that enhances microcirculation.

The new far infrared technology (IRf) is a key ingredient in the company’s latest collection of sheet sets duvets and pillowcases. When in contact with the body while resting, these textiles improve relaxation, rejuvenation and oxygen levels.

Birla Century, a division of Century Textiles & Industries Limited, is combing the IRf technology in its newest bedding with wrinkle-free and moisture management properties on fabrics such as cotton, flax, hemp, jute, viscose, lyocell, modal and blends.

“The new generation is looking for their home & wardrobe to shift towards a healthy sustainable lifestyle, and for this IRf is a novel solution to this market demand,” said R.K. Dalmia, managing director of Century Textiles & Industries.

The technology was inspired by the blue morpho butterfly, whose wings create color by causing light waves to diffract and interfere. A similar mechanism allows the red infrared rays to permeate fabric and penetrate an inch into the skin to stimulate cells and tissues.

“We call it the ‘butterfly treatment” to a healthy and sound sleep,” said Ashish Mehrishi, Birla Century’s CMO for home textiles and apparel. “This unique formulation developed by our company is not just effective on the human body but also quite cost centric to the consumers pockets.”
