Cheerio! Welspun goes big with its newest brand

New York – Break out the strawberries and cream. Welspun is serving up a big new brand across a range of product categories.

Welspun’s Christy division in the UK has been making the Wimbledon on-court championship towels for the last 30 years and recently inked a five-year extension of that agreement which expanded to include all bed and bath products. Welspun USA is taking the lead for this expanded bedding and bath launch at New York Home Fashions Market this week.

“This introduction signals the dawn of a new brand for bed and bath, a legitimate brand steeped in history and heritage yet also entirely relevant for today,” said Christopher Mooney, who was recently promoted into the newly created position of global chief marketing officer.

He describes the Wimbledon home brand as aspirational, modern and active – with a point of view that promotes health and wellness, better quality sleep, peak performance and recovery attributes.

The collection is characterized by clean lines and a vibrant palette reminiscent of a sunny day at the All-England Lawn and Tennis Club: grass green, “All-England” green (alpine, the color of All England Club’s buildings), sky blue, purple, “tennis whites,” “2-week wear” wheat (the patch of grass at the baseline of center court which, after two weeks of wear, takes on a “wheat” color).

The brand also features signature touches of red symbolizing the tradition of strawberries and cream at the championships as well as tennis ball yellow.

“[It is] a classic design sensibility that is equally at home in a country cottage or a loft in the city,” said Mooney. “This is a luxury brand for everyone – tennis, pickleball, croquet fan or not.”

The products include top of bed, sheets, throws, decorative pillows, bath towels, rugs and robes, a new category for Welspun. The targeted distribution, in partnership with the Wimbledon organization, is department stores and luxury specialty retailers.

Welspun’s New York showroom is located in the penthouse 10 W. 33rd St., just off 5th Avenue.
