HUAMANTLA – Industrial thread manufacturer Coats Group has announced the opening of a new manufacturing facility in Mexico.

Situated in Huamantla, the new plant 12,000 square-metre plant will bolster the company’s infrastructure and enable it to better service customers throughout the country and the Americas.

According to a company statement, the site will place particular onus on supporting orders relative to the automotive, household and recreation sectors.

Its opening is deemed intrinsic to Coats Group’s growth strategy, as it broadens its remit and boosts capacities. It’s expected to complement an existing site in Orizaba, Mexico, reducing workflows at either site by dividing custom. What’s more, each site will place greater attention on the sustainability of their operations in a bid to improve the group’s credentials.

“Coats is a pioneering company and high-quality production is crucial to our success. To help enhance our strong innovation approach, we are investing in key manufacturing locations in Mexico,” commented chief executive, Rajiv Sharma.

“The new Huamantla Plant will allow us to be more sustainable while better meeting customer needs and expectations in a fast-changing world.”

Earlier this year, Coats acquired Texon, a producer of structural components and materials used in sectors like textiles. The deal was another example of Coats increasing market footprint, and was deemed indicative of the group’s aspirations with markets beyond fashion.
