HONG KONG – Clothing company Crystal International has announced the installation of a new smart warehouse which will hold up to two million finished garments and streamline inventory management.
The Hong Kong-based business says the warehousing solution at its denim site will advance its digital transformation while reducing manpower by half.
The company says the site will operate around the clock and has at its disposal six stacker cranes to store millions of pieces and boasts an automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) that will streamline the manner in which operators engage with batches of stock.
Different conveyors are built to facilitate and optimise the inbound and outbound movements of fabrics and finished goods, Crystal explains, whilst an overarching warehouse management system will vie to link all facets of the facility.
“Since the warehouse data is all stored in one system, the factory can have a better tracking of fabrics and finished goods inventory. All these bring additional value to the customers – the movement of materials is boosted, manufacturing process is also streamlined,” said Wendy Li, general manager, corporate logistics of Crystal International.
This level of automation is expected to yield more efficient use of land space and will help the company better manage its increasing quantities of stock.
“Expanding smart warehouse solution is the key to manage high-volume warehouse operations and complex supply chain logistics. Crystal International will continue to break ground on smart warehousing to optimise its usage and support the growth of the production capacities in the coming years,” a company statement said.
