Grasim Industries, an Aditya Birla group company reported a 16 rise in net profit at Rs 1,164 crore ($140 million) for the quarter ended September, as against Rs 1,009 crore in the year-ago period.

The company’s revenue for the quarter rose by 10 percent to Rs 30,221 crore, as against Rs 27,486 crore posted in the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
The company’s Ebitda rose 32 percent to Rs 6,053 crore from Rs 4,592 crore recorded during the same period a year ago.
Grasim’s viscose staple fibre (VSF) business reported revenue of Rs 3,889 crore and Ebitda of Rs 468 crore for the quarter, marking a sequential increase of 9 percent and 20 percent, respectively.
Textiles business reported revenue of Rs 560 crore and Ebitda of Rs 41 crore. The company said that sharp increase in flax fibre prices impacted profitability of the linen business.
