Demand for Indore’s ready-made garments has seen a jump with dispatches to Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, up by more 10 per cent amid the spurt in the wedding season.
One of the times of greatest demand for the apparel industry is around weddings, and almost 60 per cent of industry revenue originates from Indore’s southern marketplaces.
The increase in demand has assisted in clearing most clothing manufacturers’ inventories, freeing up funds for new acquisitions to meet the demand for weddings.
With over 2,500 small and medium-sized garment makers, Indore is a hub for ready-made garment manufacturers. Festivals are the busiest time of year for the apparel industry.
Readymade Textile Dealers Association president Ashish Nigam said, “Order books are mostly full for advance months. There are many weddings this year and purchases in retail for weddings have increased this season. The sector is eyeing a growth of more than 10 per cent this wedding season.”
Industry participants reported that compared to the previous season, Indore-based garment makers’ dispatches to southern markets have increased.
