Stuttgart, Germany – The month-long campaign to highlight the sustainable and social qualities of products made with GOTS-certified organic cotton drew broad support from industry.
The consumer-facing #BehindTheSeams initiative in September drew participation from more than 290 brands worldwide. The 2nd annual campaign expanded to run the full month and featured daily giveaways from fashion, soft home and other textiles brands. Home brands taking part in bedding giveaways included Naturepedic and Mungo.
“This campaign is a fun, engaging way to educate the public on living eco-consciously and why choosing organic textiles is better for the health of humans and the planet,” said Holger Stripf, head of marketing at Global Standard.
#BehindTheSeams also spotlights “organic in-conversion” farming and urges brands to support farmers during the critical transition period. The Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) joined with Global Organic Textile Standard calling on brands, retailers and stakeholders across the textiles industry to take part.
OCA provides critical resources such as capacity-building, premium payments and market linkages. During the 2023-2024 cotton season, OCA worked with over 35,000 in-conversion farmers in India and Pakistan as part of a broader program that supports over 80,000 farmers. This impact has been made possible through the commitments of 16 brands participating in OCA’s Farm Program.
