SGS teams with TMC to expand fiber fragmentation testing services -approves five more laboratories in Asia

Rutherford, N.J. – Inspection and certification company SGS has partnered with The Microfibre Consortium (TMC) for five additional laboratories.

TMC, which develops solutions for the textile industry to minimize fiber fragmentation and its release into the environment, approved SGS as its inaugural third-party laboratory in 2021 with the approval of three laboratories in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Taipei City. Now, labs in Bangladesh, India, Turkey, the USA and Vietnam are joining the group.

“We welcome the opportunity this brings to expand our work with TMC members, and the wider textile and apparel industry, to support them in taking the practical steps needed to accelerate reductions in fiber fragmentation,” said Yvonne Tse, VP of global softlines at SGS.

SGS’s softlines and accessories services cover home textiles, apparel, footwear, PPE, bags and accessories.
