Imports of textiles and apparel were up 9.8 percent from August to October, according to statistics from the Department of Commerce’s Office of Textiles and Apparel.

Overall imports. Textile and apparel imports totaled 10.7 billion square meter equivalents in October, up 9.8 percent from August and 33.1 percent from a year earlier. Textile imports totaled 8.22 billion SME, up 14.0 percent from August and 37.2 percent from the previous year, while apparel imports of 2.51 billion SME were down 2.4 percent from August but up 21.0 percent from a year before.

Imports of textiles and apparel were 87.5 billion SME for the year to date in October, up 11.3 percent from the previous year. Textile imports were 65.7 billion SME, up 13.8 percent, while apparel imports totaled 21.8 billion SME, up 4.4 percent.

For the year ending in October 2024, total imports were up 10.6 percent compared to a year earlier, to 101.4 billion SME. Textile imports rose 13.5 percent to 76.2 billion SME while apparel imports were up 2.9 percent to 25.2 billion SME.
