Established in Mumbai, Velcord Textiles Pvt. Ltd., is a fabric manufacturer and exporter specialising in corduroy and velveteen fabrics since 1981. Their fabrics are sourced by brands in the fashion apparel industry, home textiles and many more. With a legacy of 40+ years, Velcord exports their fabrics to Japan, EU, UK, USA, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh markets.
Delve into a conversation with Mr. Gunjan Sawansukha, General Manager Marketing, at the 3rd edition of Textile Fairs India (TFI) Mumbai, organised on 9th to 11th May 2024.
“We cater our fabrics for men’s, women’s, kid’s wear and even home textiles as velveteen fabrics are used in sofa coverings, cushions, curtains, etc. We have a wide range of approximately 500 different types of fabrics from 3 wales to 30 wales. We produce velveteen in varieties of cotton, cotton blends and polyester”, says Mr. Gunjan.
“We have a 20,000 metre per day production capacity with top of the line machinery and a 4 point system in place for quality checks”, adds Mr. Gunjan when prompted about their supply capabilities.
With such a rich legacy behind them, they are always innovating and planning for fresher ideas. Mr. Gunjan shared with us their recent launch of digitally printed velveteen fabrics that were released recently along with cotton linen blends. Apart from this, they are also doing their R & D as they plan to expand their services to the home textile industry on a larger scale.
When asked about their overall experience of participating in the TFI Shows, Mr. Gunjan shares, “we have been participating since the last 4 years and it has always been great being here. We thank the team at TFI for their relentless efforts in making these shows such a great place to be at. We also met many potential buyers, who have also placed orders. It’s a great place to network and meet new people.”
