What is the LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO-TEX®?
The LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO-TEX® is an internationally standardised independent testing and certification system for leather and leather goods at all production levels, including accessory materials used.
The test for harmful substances includes:
• Substances which are prohibited and regulated by law
• Chemicals that are known to be harmful to health but which are not regulated by law
• Substances that are believed to be harmful to health.
What do you get?
• A detailed report and an annual certificate as proof of the successful testing of your leather products for harmful substances.
• A label with which you can communicate the safety of your product to your customers and business partners and thus set yourself apart from the competition.
How is the LEATHER STANDARD integrated in the OEKO-TEX® system?
The LEATHER STANDARD by OEKO-TEX® is structured in the same way as the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®.
It is used for both B2B communication within the value creation chain and also for B2C communication. For products with leather and textile parts, the LEATHER STANDARD and STANDARD 100 are used in combination.
Together with the STeP by OEKO-TEX® certification for environmentally friendly and socially responsible production companies, the LEATHER STANDARD forms the basis for awarding the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label.
